My New Year's Resolution
I resolve to occasionally jot down - here - my thoughts and opinions on matters thoroughbred, and to invite comment and critique from readers, get a conversation happening. Breeding topics, racing matters, the sales scene. No holds barred, no gilding of the lily (but hopefully on the right side of the libel laws). However, it's a work in progress. I won't have anything on the blog for a little while yet.

Looking forward to it!
Nice Writing Steve! Keep it up.
Good to see in you in NZ, have a great 2008.
Steve
i would be interested to hear the REAL story re numbers thru the waterhouse stable Versus winners.
she always gets the spin from journos who seem to frightened to get of side and print about the losses rather than the trialed thrashed winners.
Seems star thouroughbreds pokes through a lot of syndicates whose horses never hit the track yet alone win
Forget the media. Refer my comment on racing journalism in one of my other posts. Don't be hard on Gai. She has few peers let alone betters. However, strike rate and what's behind it and how it affects racing is an interesting topic and I'll cobble together something on it at a later time.
Racing is that kind of game. Not everything can be a winner. I think if you examine the winners to runners ratio Gai is on or close to top of that. I have had an interest in three Star thoroughbreds and all three have raced. Two have been winners. It has been a great thrill. None of us should buy horses to win money. It is not that sort of enterprize
Couldn't agree more. When I was with Gai it was my business to know how the stable was going compared with the rest. No one in Australia (training a sizeable team) has better numbers than Gai stretching back over many seasons now. Much as that might be bad news to some people, it's true, they only need check, and it reflects great credit on her.
I have just found your blog, and I want to say YOU HAVE MADE MY CHRISTMAS!!
At last – somebody who is willing to write the truth in the THOROUGHLY warped landscape that passes for racing and breeding media.
I will look forward to the next installment – and in the meantime, a very happy Christmas.
Look forward to more blissfully bitter and twisted conversations in 2008 mate (is that like Kevin07?). You rock!!
