OK all you blogaholics - you doubtless understand that there's nothing new on the blog because I'm bogged (not blogged) down with the Sydney "Easter" Yearling Sale at present. Probably won't get my name on the sheets. All hell is going to let loose on some horses, believe me. Hopefully when it's all over I'll be able to put something up which might either entertain, inform or scandalise you - take your pick.
But two things before I sign off:
(1) This coming week's most important event: my first grandchild's first birthday on the 21st - lovely Mathilda (Tilly) Elliot Brem, born in London, now resident of Auckland. I'll see if I can organise a pic for the blog. She's prettier than any filly at Newmarket.
(2) Rumour of the week: a Magic Millions proprietor is selling his stakeholding to Tinkler's Patinack Farm.
Good bidding if you're going to the sales.

Hi Steve, see you have been spending up! On the results it looks like the good types have sold well to the big buyers.
Their will no doubt be a bargain that performs above it's price.
What is your bargain so far??
My lot 450, Redoute's Choice-Volted In filly. I thought lot 22 Niello-Campbell Fever filly was good buying, lot 106 Zabeel-Fine Society colt, lot 153 Rock Of Gibraltar-Highest Cool colt, lot 181 Lonhro-Kibitka colt, ot 222 FuPeg-Madison Park colt, lot 294 Thorn Park-Plarinum Blond colt, lot 329 Flying Spur-Repenting colt, lot 410 Zabeel-Sylvaner colt, lot 415 Charge Forward-The Flying Nun colt, lot 422 Encosta de Lago-Tremone Bay filly, lot 430 Fastnet Rock-Twisted Heart colt, lot 491 Exceed And Excel-Arabian Lass colt - I thought all these were fair types which were value buys, certainly not overs. There'll be a good horse amongst them. It's a mystery why Swettenham's horses don't sell better. Overall, I thought the fillies were a lousy bunch. Mostly paying first class money for second class stock.
Hi Steve, great to see you're still alive! Now that your blog is so popular, we addicts need our fix on a more regular basis.
You see, it's not about you or your work load anymore, get your act together and employ a well balanced, beautifully proportioned, smart walking PA, preferably with a nice head.
It's great to see this sale go so well, let's not forget though that two Group 1 winners at Rosehill last Saturday were purchased for $20k and $10k as yearlings, for the little fella's these results keep the dream alive! We live in anticipation that our best days are still to come.
All the best, love your blog and also the types of horses you purchase.
I don't want to employ a well balanced, beautifully proportioned, smart walking PA, preferably with a nice head ... I want to marry one!! Are you a contender? It's a terrible thing that what passes for 'work' gets in the way of my being able to do the blog each day but such is life. I do not have 10% of Macarthur Coal ... I did get a buzz at the sale on Tuesday when a total stranger came up to me, introduced himself and said he lived in Tokyo and read and enjoyed the blog ... seems I haven't brought so much pleasure to so many since I had the harem a few years ago.
would appreciate your thoughts on the half to Divine Madonna?
Steve, have found a website for you
Sugardaddie.com
cheers
Re: sugardaddie.com - looks like heaven on earth but it's not my demographic. Says it's for the "classy, attractive and affluent". I'm more arsey, negative and effluent.
The half to Divine Madonna - an immature late foal, fairly weak in the hocks and hindquarters, rotated knees and her off fore had me a bit worried. Nothing that plenty of time mightn't fix and at $200k there's next to no downside on residual value. Could be a sound investment.
