Frank You Very Much

To prove no one really takes any notice of what I think, who recalled what I wrote about Falbrav way back on April 6, as follows:

Amongst his first crop, however, were a handful of impressive individuals, in my book none moreso than the colt out of Angelic Smile bred by Ron Gilbert and sold last Easter to Woodlands for $550,000, Falbrav’s top price. He was as a good a type as you’d ever see. He’s named Fravashi and presumably he’ll be one of the new Darley tidal wave. I saw him trial in January; he’ll be worth waiting for.

Out popped Fravashi at Canterbury today and he brained them at $7.50. Thanks for coming.

Interesting to see that Patinack Farm didn't buy anymore yearlings at the Easter sale,Your thoughts???

Steve,

On the subject of the sales, lot 477 by encosta from a good family only went for $100,000. I have a friend who took a share. Do you know what was wrong with it?

Anonymous #1, Patinack bought truckloads right through to the end of Session 2, in trainers' names. Anonymous #2, I don't know what was "wrong" with it. As with every other yearling on the grounds, I looked at it: it wasn't a great colour for an Encosta, it was fairly narrow but lengthy and strong enough, it was a little out in the knees but no more so than a couple of hundred others. Not having an interested buyer I had no reason to do any further due diligence so have no idea what his rays were like. Swettenham seemed to be having a quiet sale overall. Racing To Win cost less than half that so don't despair.

Pity Falbrav can't find himself back on the Arrowfield roster this spring as they wont let horses out of Japan into Australia!

Keep up the good work

Hi Steve,
I have just been told about your blog. Very interesting reading and some funny points of view.
I was wondering if you would mind publicising a raffle we (Quensland Thoroughbred Breeders)are running to raise some funds we need post the EI crisis. The prize is a racing trip for 2 to Hong Kong
Here are the details.
5 day trip to Hong Kong Races
The trip is for 2 people and includes the following
° first class hospitality in the exclusive Cathay Pacific private box at one of Hong Kong’s race tracks
° return economy class air fares - Brisbane/Hong Kong
° six nights accommodation at one of Hong Kong’s premium five star hotels
° $25 per ticket. Prize Drawn Friday 20th June 2008
° Winner to take prize During October or November

This is a great prize. I have done this exact trip last year and I intend to do it again soon. The hospitality in Hong Kong in general is superb and the Cathay Pacific box is unbelievable.
