What? A Week Without Sales?

I feel a blog coming on. I might put pen to paper during the week as it seems we have a hiatus between sales. I am thinking of making access to the blog subscription only. That would sort out all of you who complain I haven't written anything for weeks and would also mean I wouldn't need to bother.

Hi Steve

Was at the Magic Mil sales last week & thought there were a lot of bad-legged colts. The fillies seemed to have better confirmation.
Your Thoughts?

I had no reason to stay for the yearlings so I can't comment. Except that it's pretty much the sale of last resort so one would expect plenty of variation.

hey steve ,noticed your name on the purchase of a danzero broodmare, was that a purchase you liked for yourself?
also did you think the quality of weanlings at mm sale was good?
and what did you think of the new sires snitzel, starcraft, oratorio[coolmore], undoubtedly?

I bought the Danzero mare (No Flirting) for a client. Though she is an odd-looking thing she is already a useful producer and she was reasonably priced. Her third dam is Dulcie who was also an odd-looking thing - and one of the best broodmares that ever lived. I could see the connection. I didn't look at all the MM weanlings by any means, and ended up not being able to buy any I liked with the budget I had, so I don't have an educated comment on the overall standard. But they are always a mixed bag. Breeders bail out of them for a multitude of reasons. I've had some exposure to the sires you mention, except Undoubtedly, and seen some good individuals. The $310k paid for Ilala's Oratorio colt defied all known logic and short of asking Damon Gabbedy what the hell was going on I remain sceptical about that one. Nice colt with a turn in the leg, by a sire who's not yet on everyone's lips out of a non-winner by Filante. Gives all breeders hope! I believe Undoubtedly has experienced fertility problems so there mightn't be too many of them in the future?

I'll pay the sub. if it gives me the right to whinge about you not blogging ... bring on the fee I say!

Glad to see you have returned to your flock however. A few of us were considering sending in a 'Missing Persons Report'.
